Quarter-Close Audit Mastery

Turn your quarter-close audit app into the system of record for owners, evidence, and open items—so the pack you send external reviewers matches what your team actually did.

What you will be able to do

  • Translate a legacy close checklist into app tasks with named owners and due windows.
  • Structure evidence folders so source documents sit next to the balance they support.
  • Run an exception queue that survives weekends and staff absence.
  • Assemble a controller pack that auditors can open without a live walkthrough.
  • Spot where the app should stop—and where a short memo still belongs.

Who it suits

Controllers, close leads, and senior accountants in United Kingdom organisations that already post to a ledger and want the audit trail to live in software—not in email threads.

Teams without any close calendar yet should establish a basic month-end rhythm first; this course assumes deadlines already exist.

Modules

  1. Close calendar into the app

Import your real task list, set dependencies, and decide which items stay outside the system on purpose.

  2. Control owners and handoffs

Assign primary and backup owners; practise weekend coverage without losing accountability.

  3. Evidence while balances are warm

Attach bank support, subledger extracts, and approvals at the moment of sign-off—not the Friday before audit.

  4. Exception queues that clear

Design severity labels, ageing views, and escalation rules so orphaned items cannot hide.

  5. Controller narrative layer

Write the short story that sits above the pack: material judgements, known gaps, and what changed versus last quarter.

  6. Auditor dry-run

Exchange packs with another cohort team and take feedback as if you were the external reviewer.

Learner notes

“Module 3 forced us to attach invoices the same day we booked accruals. Painful for a week—then our Q2 pack review took one meeting instead of three.”

Samir · FP&A manager · Birmingham

“Solid on process. The dry-run in Module 6 exposed that our revenue cut-off folder was still a shared drive link. We fixed it before year-end.”

FAQ

No. We train teams on the workflow patterns that make any serious close app useful. Bring the tool you already licensed—or ask us which categories fit your stack. We do not resell software on this site.

Four live sessions (90 minutes) plus async labs. Recordings stay available for six weeks after the cohort ends.

We do not deep-dive every ERP connector or custom script. If your close depends on heavy technical integration work, you will still need your systems team—this course makes the human and evidence side reliable, not the middleware.

Yes—Firm Desk seating on the pricing page covers that. We cap discussion groups so every team still gets airtime.
